Personal Trainer Application

Build Your Coaching Career Without Building Everything Alone

Self-Employed Personal Trainer Opportunity in Warrenpoint

Cross Functional Fitness is looking for an ambitious personal trainer who wants more than simply covering a few gym sessions.

This is an opportunity to develop your coaching career inside an established, supportive coaching business while retaining the independence and responsibility that come with being self-employed.

You’ll have the opportunity to coach real clients, build lasting relationships, develop your own client base and contribute to the future growth of Cross Functional Fitness.

This Is Not a Conventional Gym-Floor PT Role

We don’t want a coach standing around waiting for someone to ask for help.

We also don’t want someone who simply turns up, delivers a workout and leaves.

We’re looking for a coach who takes ownership: of the quality of their coaching, their clients’ progress, their professional development and, over time, the growth of their own coaching career.

You’ll work within the Cross Functional Fitness environment and benefit from our established systems, equipment, reputation and support—but you’ll also be expected to bring initiative, ideas and a genuine desire to build something.

Who We Help

Cross Functional Fitness is a private coaching gym based in Warrenpoint.

Many of our clients are adults in their forties, fifties, sixties and beyond who want to:

  • Become stronger and more capable.
  • Improve their health and quality of life.
  • Move with greater confidence.
  • Prepare for later life.
  • Return to training after time away.
  • Receive expert guidance in a supportive environment.

We coach people, not just workouts.

Our members do not need shouting, showing off or unnecessarily complicated training. They need a knowledgeable coach who listens, communicates clearly and knows how to meet people where they are.

What You Could Be Doing

Depending on your experience, availability and ambitions, the opportunity may include:

  • Delivering one-to-one and partner personal training.
  • Coaching small-group personal training sessions.
  • Helping clients follow personalised strength programmes.
  • Supporting consultations, goal reviews and progress checks.
  • Building strong, long-term relationships with clients.
  • Developing your own client base within Cross Functional Fitness.
  • Contributing ideas to improve our coaching and client experience.
  • Potentially developing or taking responsibility for a particular service, programme or area of the business.

We’re interested in what you could grow into—not only what sessions you can cover immediately.

What We Provide

You won’t be expected to build everything from scratch.

Depending on the agreed arrangement, Cross Functional Fitness can provide:

  • A well-equipped private coaching facility.
  • An established local brand and reputation.
  • Access to appropriate booking and client-management systems.
  • Opportunities to coach existing or newly acquired clients.
  • Support with consultations, client communication and retention.
  • Mentoring in coaching, programming and business development.
  • An experienced team to learn from and contribute to.
  • A clear pathway to take on greater responsibility and increase your income as you create more value.

The exact opportunity will be shaped around the right person rather than forcing every coach into the same position.

Who This Would Suit

You may be a good fit if you:

  • Hold a recognised Level 3 Personal Training qualification or equivalent.
  • Care about coaching quality rather than simply making clients tired.
  • Communicate well with beginners and people who may lack confidence.
  • Are reliable, organised and professional.
  • Are interested in strength training, long-term health and healthy ageing.
  • Want to continue developing your programming and coaching skills.
  • Take responsibility rather than waiting to be managed.
  • Are interested in growing a sustainable coaching career.
  • Are comfortable receiving feedback and being held to high standards.
  • Want the freedom of self-employment without being completely isolated.

Previous experience is valuable, but attitude, communication and willingness to learn matter just as much.

The Practical Requirements

Before regularly coaching clients, you will need:

  • An appropriate personal training qualification.
  • Current professional and public liability insurance.
  • An appropriate first-aid qualification.
  • The right to provide services in the UK.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • A willingness to work within your professional scope and refer clients to appropriate healthcare professionals when required.

Some early-morning or evening availability is likely to be useful, although the exact working pattern will be agreed with the successful coach.

The Working Arrangement

This is a self-employed contractor opportunity rather than a salaried employment position.

Work, availability and fees will be agreed between Cross Functional Fitness and the coach. The coach will be responsible for their own tax, National Insurance, insurance, professional registration and business administration.

There are no guaranteed hours. Coaching opportunities will be offered as they become available and agreed by both parties.

The proposed fee and earning structure is:

Self-employed coaches receive 44% of the coaching revenue from the sessions they deliver.

The amount earned per session varies depending on the service being delivered, such as one-to-one, partner or small-group personal training, and the number of clients attending. Full details of the payment structure will be discussed during the application process and confirmed in writing before coaching begins.

There may also be opportunities to increase earnings by developing a larger client base, generating new business or taking responsibility for additional services.

Full details will be discussed transparently before either party commits to working together.

Our Application Process

  1. Complete the short application below.
  2. Have an initial conversation with Stuart.
  3. Attend a practical coaching assessment.
  4. Discuss the contractor arrangement, availability and development opportunities.
  5. Complete references, qualification and insurance checks.
  6. Agree an induction and initial coaching period.

We are interested in finding the right long-term fit rather than filling sessions as quickly as possible.
