Stuart Thompson
Coach / Founder
I used to hate exercise—skipping PE and forging notes to get out of it. Now, helping others enjoy training, eat well, and feel stronger is my full-time job.
My turning point was discovering weight training. Bodybuilding hooked me in, and from there I explored calisthenics, CrossFit, Olympic lifting, powerlifting, running, rowing—you name it. I’ve trained, competed, failed, learned, and kept going.
Exercise helped me through tough times like job loss and grief, not just physically but mentally. It’s taught me resilience—and I bring that mindset to every client I coach.
I’ve tested every diet under the sun (Keto, Paleo, IF, Zone, etc.), and now focus on sustainable, enjoyable habits that work in real life. I hold qualifications in personal training, kettlebells, exercise for older adults, and pre/postnatal fitness.
My goal? Help people build strength, confidence, and a lifestyle they enjoy—without the punishment. Training should be effective and fun.

Emmy Torrens
Coach
Hi, I’m Emmy! You’ll see me at Cross Functional Fitness helping members get stronger, fitter, and more confident lifting weights.
I train and compete as a powerlifter, so lifting heavy things is my jam — but what I really enjoy is helping others get strong too. Strength training has carried over into every part of my life, from beach lifeguarding to everyday tasks, and I love seeing that happen for others as well.
I’m excited to meet you, learn from you, and help you hit your goals!

Nathan Henderson
Coach
For me, the gym was somewhere I initially went to just to grow some muscles. I soon realised that to get the most out of it, it requires a complete lifestyle change that teaches you discipline, which translates into everyday life.
It’s so much more than just building physical strength and functionality, but taking control of your life and making positive decisions for your own health.
The big driving force behind coaching for me is to make training both rewarding and exciting for anyone, no matter your background.
What began as a small personal goal for me quickly became a lifelong passion for growth and learning. My goal is to meet you where you’re at, coach you at your own pace and give you support every step of the way.

There may not always be an immediate opening, but strong applications will be considered for current and future opportunities.
